Houston Recovery and Homeless Shelter Opens AA Meetings in East End to General Public
July 31, 2007 --- Houston, Texas --- Open Door Mission has announced plans to start a new Alcoholics Anonymous group in Houston’s East End. The Mission Possible Group will hold meetings for men every Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7PM, at 5803 Harrisburg, Houston, Texas.
“We plan this group to be open to the public,” explained Rick Hill, Executive Director. “We operate several programs at the Mission for recovering alcoholics, but they are designed primarily for residents of our facility. This new group will address the needs of the general public, and specifically, men in the East End area of Houston.”
“We encourage any men who have a problem with alcohol to come to our group,” added Curtis Lovett, Director of Christian Life. “Open Door Mission has been dealing with alcohol abuse and recovery for over 50 years. We can bring an enormous level of experience and expertise to the problem.”
Currently, only 2 Houston Intergroup AA meetings are located near Open Door Mission’s East End address. The new Mission Possible Group will be the only AA meeting on Harrisburg Avenue, one of the East End’s key thoroughfares.
