SUCCESSES OF 2006

Thank you making a life-changing difference for the Houston area's neediest in 2006! Your gifts and prayers helped Open Door Mission:
  • Serve over 206,000 home-cooked meals to the hungry
  • Offer over 84,500 nights of safe shelter to the homeless and   destitute
  • Train and equip 660 men in work training and high school GED programs
  • Renew downtrotten hearts with faith and hope through daily Chapel
    services, Christian counceling and Bible studies

GOALS FOR 2007

Every day, needy people come to the Mission for meals, shelter, and hope. To meet ongoing needs in 2007, we must prepare now. Our plans include:
  • Continue to serve over 206,000 nutritious meals, 365 days a year, while
    appraising the need to upgrade the equipment and renovate our 15-year-old
    kitchen.
  • Continue to provide and grow the Family Reunification program to help      more men  to become responsible fathers, sons, and grandfathers which will      positively impact their family for many future generations.
  • Increase our graduation rate from our 9-month DoorWay Drug and Alcohol
    Recovery program which helps men become self-sufficient and substance-free
  • Touch more lives by bringing the love of Christ to all men that come through our
     doors, to lift their spirits and give them hope for the future.
