What We Do

When a man walks through our doors, he finds more than a program. He finds people who will walk with him.

Support For The Community

Emergency Services

No man should have to face hunger, exhaustion, or crisis alone. Our emergency services provide immediate, practical support for men who need help right now. Hot meals, safe shelter, and a steady presence on the hardest days. No waiting list to be seen. No prerequisites to be helped.

Paving A New Path

Doorway Recovery Program

Emergency relief meets a man where he is. The Doorway Recovery Program walks with him toward somewhere new. Built around biblical principles and evidence-based practices, it's a structured path out of addiction, chronic homelessness, and the cycles that keep men stuck. Our staff don't hand off a checklist. They show up, build trust, and stay in it for the long haul.

At the Mission

What to Expect When You Walk Through Our Doors

Our facility is built to support men at every stage, from the first night to the final step toward independent living.

Administration

Our staff is here to help you navigate every part of the program. From intake to case planning, you'll have a consistent point of contact who knows your name and your goals.

Chapel

Chapel is a place to pause, reflect, and connect. Services and devotionals are offered regularly, grounded in the faith that drives everything we do here.

Education

From GED preparation to life skills classes, our education resources help men build the practical foundation they need to move forward with confidence.

Maintenance

Men in the Doorway Recovery Program take part in facility upkeep as part of their daily structure. It builds responsibility, routine, and a sense of ownership in the community.

Food Services

Three meals a day, every day. Men at the mission are fed well, because showing up for recovery is hard work and it starts with having enough to eat.

Residential Housing

Safe, stable housing is the foundation everything else is built on. Men in our program have a consistent, structured place to sleep while they do the work of rebuilding their lives.

Counseling

Licensed counselors and trained staff walk alongside men through the hard stuff, combining biblical principles with evidence-based approaches to address what's really driving the struggle.

Community

Recovery doesn't happen in isolation. Men at Open Door Houston live, eat, and grow alongside one another, building the kind of accountability and brotherhood that lasts beyond the program.

Life at Open Door Houston

Change doesn't start with a perfect plan. It starts with a decision to try. If you're ready to take that step, we're ready to walk with you.
