Careers at Open Door Houston
Working at Open Door Houston is more than a job. It's a front-row seat to real change in men's lives — and sometimes, it's the next chapter of your own.
Work That Changes Lives — Including Yours
At Open Door Houston, the work isn't abstract. You see it. A man finds his footing. A broken relationship starts to heal. Purpose replaces despair. If that's the kind of work you're looking for, you're in the right place.
Administration
We're a small, close-knit team doing serious work in Houston. Faith grounds us. Relationship drives us. And most of us chose this place because we believe men deserve more than a bed for the night — they deserve a real shot at a different life.
Chapel
The heart of the Mission. The Chapel is where real change takes place. Our Chapel facilitates the relationship with Jesus that we feel is the only way to fully live out ones purpose in life.
Discipleship
Walk alongside men as they rebuild their faith and their lives. Discipleship staff lead chapel services, one-on-one mentoring, and the spiritual formation work at the heart of our program.
Facilities
A safe, well-maintained environment matters. Facilities staff keep our building running so clients and staff can focus on the work of transformation rather than what's broken.
Food Services
Three meals a day is a foundation of dignity. Our food services team makes sure every man at Open Door Houston sits down to a hot, nourishing meal — every single day.
Case Management
Help men identify the barriers standing between them and stability — then build a real plan to move past them. Case managers are the relational backbone of the Doorway program.
Life at The Mission
This is a working community. Men in program, staff, and volunteers share a building, share meals, and share purpose. It's not always easy work. But it's the kind that stays with you.
Alumni on Staff
They Lived It. Now They Lead It.
More than 60% of our staff completed the Doorway program before joining the team. That's not a coincidence — it's a reflection of what we believe. Men who've lived this journey bring something into the work that no resume can capture. They know what hopelessness feels like. They know what it takes to move through it. And they show every man in program that change is real, not just possible. If you graduated from the Doorway program and you're wondering what comes next, this might be your answer.

Faith-Centered Culture
Prayer, Scripture, and shared mission aren't add-ons here. They're the air the organization breathes. If that's what you're looking for in a workplace, you'll feel it from day one.
Purpose You Can See
You don't have to wonder whether your work matters. The men sitting across from you, the ones who've stayed, rebuilt, and come back to serve — that's the evidence. It's right in front of you every day.
